It seems to me as though Delta kept the DC-8 in its fleet for severla years longer than most other American carriers. Am I right, and, if so, what year were they retired.

I remember seeing a Delta DC-8 at Fort Myers (RSW) in the late 1980s. Does anyone know where it might have been going?

Actually United kept their DC-8s longer then Delta. I think United had theirs until 1991.

The retired it in the 1st half of 1989, they had recently spen talot of money re engining those aircraft with those CFM engines. Basically it held DL over until they got a sufficient amount of 767-300's.

I have a book the information in which is spring 1991, and it says Delta has DC8 in its fleet. Don´t know whether that´s correct, though.

UA´s last scheduled pax flight with DC8 was Oct 23 1991.

Delta still has the L-1011 too.
