Sorry if this has been discussed before, but does anyone know when the AVOD will be completed on BA's 777's?

Have they started the installation process yet? How often are each aircraft getting the installation and are they doing the Club World re-fits at the same time?

I am flying from Heathrow - Chicago on March 30th - any chance I will be on one of the refitted aircraft then?

The upgrade has started on the B777's. I flew on two of the recently fitted with AVOD and the new Club World seats.

They will start to roll out more 777's pretty soon, it might be already. I remember reading G-YMMP is going in for it and one other this month (though don't quote me date wise).

One thing; not all the 777's will receive AVOD. Those aircraft with GMIS systems will simply be bigger screens in Club as the system is wired completely into the aircraft. These aircraft are G-ZZZA/B/C and G-VIIA-N, identified by the red entertainment control panel and the small screens currently.

Despite the name I am a Boeing man through and through!

G-VIIY was returned to service at the end of May fitted with AVOD and 2nd generation Club World lie-flat seats. It was then operated as a test for the refurbishment.

G-YMMP went to CWL for similar refurbishment and was returned to service at the end of August. It was followed to CWL by G-VIIW and G-VIIV in early September. Both aircraft should be back in service soon if they are not already operating and will or have been replaced by two others at CWL.

Interestingly the four new aircraft to be delivered early next year will go straight to CWL for conversion and the fitting of an overhead crew rest area.

There are about 2 B777 at CWL at a time, the standard AVOD and NCW takes 8 days. But some aircraft need D chacks and Overhead Crew rest installed as well which takes longer. The last AVOD equipped aircraft will not leave CWL until October next year.

Overhead Crew rest

I thought the OHAR was fitted at Boeing? Or are these new OHARs, replacing the current ones?

Maybe Boeing fits OHAR, but not to BA B777. We used to have Flight crew rest behind the flight deck and Cabin Crew rest in the hold. Both have been moved upstairs.
In fact the new B777-200ER that are coming in 2009 are having both fitted at CWL by BAMC after delivery.
