Does anyone know if easyJet has short-term expansion plans at FCO? Consdering the state of Alitalia, it sounds like a logical move. Looking at the flight schedules currently loaded, expansion seems likely. At least, aircraft are overnighting there.
easyJet will start flying into FCO this winter with 2 daily flights from LGW and 4 daily flights from MXP.
The flights from LGW are "normal" rotations from LGW. Example for Monday, 17 November:
LGW-FCO 0655-1020
FCO-LGW 1055-1230
LGW-FCO 1655-2020
FCO-LGW 2055-2230
The flights from MXP have strange timings, suggesting room for further expansion. This is the schedule of Mo 17/11
MXP-FCO:
0755-0910
1300-1415
1700-1815
2025-2200
FCO-MXP:
0745-0900
1000-1115
1600-1715
1855-2010
It seems that the 0745 departure from FCO starts with an overnighting aircraft. However, the schedule from Su 16/11 does not have any flights ending at FCO.
The other timings also don't all add up to a normal flight pattern.
Yes, the 0755-0910 MXP-FCO can rotate on the 1000-1115 FCO-MXP. Also, the 1700-1815 can rotate on the 1855-2010.
But the 1300-1415 will not fly back as the 1600-1715 flight.
Therefore, to me it seems that U2 are in the final preparation stages of the launch of extensive FCO operations. They have probably already wanted to load the MXP-FCO flights preliminary, waiting untill the deal is finalized.
Does anyone have local information? For example, slot request news, or news from local media?

With Ciampino basically 'full' - EZY are right to focus on FCO, and hopefully they can make a go of shuttle services to and from Malpensa. If and When AZ goes under hopefully EZY can launch a LIN FCO service, which will compete nicely against FR and the Train.
