...Then, why might the headline read "Venezuelan airline Aserca denies will make Alitalia offer?"

= Dude ... I knew my sense of humor was bad ... but can't you see I was being ironic as it is so absurd.

Quoting Francoflier (Reply 2):
Berlusconi: "Alitalia needs to remain an Italian airline! But of course if we can't we'll just give it to Chavez..."

= Let us leave politics and celebrate the absurdity. I mean, this is SO random. If I read state owned vehicle conViasa, it could still make sense.

PS: Though, if true, how absurd would it be  Smile? Maybe they could make a direct link from Roma to Los Roques. There is definitely a demand to fill one of the Magnifica class.

ZERO chance of happening, Air France or an italian consortium will buy Alitalia or whatever is left of it. I was at MIA yesterday, and the Alitalia 777 was there.

I guess Berlusconi will be happy he can settle for keeping AZ an european airline  Wink

I can't see AZ fighting AV for the BOG-CCS market......

Hilarious I would say:

Quote:
Italian news agency ANSA earlier quoted Aserca director-general Hugo Santoro as saying in a statement that "over the coming days, we will send (details of) our proposal to the special administrator" of Alitalia.

However an airline spokesman told AFP that "Mr. Hugo Santoro does not work at the company.

"The statement didn't come from here. We have no idea how the statement was distributed."

Isn't a bit to early(or late) to be making April's Fool Jokes?.

I was browsing the frontpage on A.net and suddenly see that title and I'm like "WTF?. You must be kidding!"

Indeed, but some people can't live without politics, it seems, so its a matter of time before someone brings politics.

Today in the morning a friend of mine texts me and says: Hey dude, Aserca is going to buy Alitalia!!!

I replied, STOP BOTHERING ME...

Now I see the rumors are actually in the air, HAHAHAHAHA, this surely made my day... Aserca can't even upgrade a damn DC-9 and they're planning to buy AZ? I think it was a way to advertise their airline and get into the headlines of today's newspapers... what a joke!

This is getting even better,

I just surfed a bit on the Venezuelan news sites and found this interesting new:

Quote:

According to this, Aserca had no idea that this 'offer' had been launched. It's been said that Hugo Santoro was the one who gave this offer and, according to Aserca, this person doesn't work in the airline.

MOREOVER, the quote says, WITH THE VENEZUELAN SOCIALIST GOVERNMENT'S HELP, WE ARE SURE WE AND OLD: Guangzhou - Baiyun (CAN / ZGGG) (closed), China">CAN SOLVE MANY OF THE PROBLEMS ALITALIA AND ITS EMPLOYEES ARE GOING THROUGH.

Nice way to link Aserca with the government huh?

Cheers
