Canadian is getting rid of their DC-10s! Now, that's an interesting rumour! I wonder what they are thinking of replacing them with, especially considering the financial situation the company is in and the fiasco they are going through with Air Canada and ONEX. I once heard, a while back, that Canadian was looking into the 777 (rumour still). I think its about time that Canadian replace all of their 737-200s... I don't think Canadian chose to hush kit them so they are still Category II aircraft for noise. However, if Canadian had chosen to repaint their DC-10s, it would certainly be an interesting sight to see since they would have to somehow take into account the engine nacelle on the tail... Interesting thought though.

If you look hard enough through CP press releases and so on, you will find that they are receiving two more 767-300's this year (leased) in order to replace the DC-10's. And it isn't a rumour, its an official press release that said this. I think 777's are out of the question for them, although any aircraft at all look pretty much out of their ability.
As far as DC-10's being repainted, I heard they wouldn't be. But if CP hangs on as an independant carrier, it could be possible. I highly doubt it will ever happen, though.
As a side note, when AC regenerated 3 of their L-1011's a few years back, they were used for about 2 years in the current AC livery. Those L-1011's were, in my opinion, particularly beautiful aircraft in that paint scheme. However, I really doubt that the new CP colours would look very good on a DC-10. From any photo's I've seen, it looks pretty funny on a 763. I would like to see it on their F28's, too, just to see how it looks. I did rather like it on the 732's and Dash-8's.

I have seen a DC-10 in the new colors......in the Canadian Airlines inflight magazine! At the back of the magazine they have a double spread page with fleet info and all aircarft (albeit drawings, not photo's) are depicted in the new "Proud Wings" logo. The DC10 looks really cool with the goose draped across the tail/engine. But i think the back of their magazine is the only place you'll ever see a Canadian DC10 in the new livery.

I read that Canadian will be getting rid of two DC10s by late fall, and they will be replaced by two 767300s, and then they will be getting rid of two more DC10s by 2001, and replacing them with two more 767300s.
I don't think Canadian will paint their remaining DC10s.
I think Canadian should replace their 737200s with some 737500s, but that is doubtful with their financial problems.
