What Happened To AA LEX-ORD?

I was just about to change my reservation from LEX to LHR (always fly via ORD) and the direct flight (AA4410) from LEX to ORD seems to have simply vanished!

I have taken this flight about 20-30 times over the last 3-4 years - apparently I now have to go all the way fown to Dallas, TX and then back up to ORD. (like that makes sense).

If AA has infact cancelled this service then it means that they will lose my 100,000 - 120,000 mainly longhaul miles a year custom to another airline just because of a little 50 minute hop.

I'm pissed - looks like I'm off to UA

It is being cut on 1 October, along with a slew of other routes from Chicago being cut this fall including Baton Rouge, Birmingham, Greenville/Spartanburg, Harrisburg, Shreveport, etc.

If you want to fly AA, why don't you just fly LEX-DFW-LHR instead of LEX-DFW-ORD-LHR? Or fly UA via IAD or DL via JFK or ATL? Or CO via EWR? Or US via PHL or CLT? Or NW via DTW? There are lots of alternatives besides AA and ORD.

Yeah but when you've spent 4 years building up airmiles, elite status etc it is disappointing.

Also LHR-ORD is an 8hr 25 min flight ORD-LHR is 7hr 30 min flight.

LHR-DFW is a 10hr flight - DFW-LHR is a 9hr 05 min flight.

checkmark CVG would be another option.

If i wanted to drive that distance, not to mention the fact that it is the most expensive airport in the USA and if I wanted to fly Delta and to Gatwick

If i wanted to drive that distance,

I think it's probably closer than SDF (and the fares aren't generally as bad for international... after all, AA has to compete with lots of other 1-stop itineraries).
