There's a 1970's song entitled, "Me and you and a DOG named Blue". This is a play on words, as are many of their other aircraft names, "It's me and Blue, Kid," etc.

Haha- and only the American (that would be me) would know the answer.

The actual title is "Me and you and a dog named Boo" By Lobo.

Correct! I guess a couple of us are old enough to remember it!

Is there a list of all the B6 names? I did a search for the names "Mr. Blue" (an old Fleetwoods song) and "Blue On Blue" (the Bobby Vinton song) but didn't get matches for either one in the photo search.

It's a fairly complete list, only missing names for a handful of their newest A320s. Based on this list, and some other sources, I think this one may be N746JB, which they just received.
To answer your question, JetBlue has a unique name given to each aircraft, all containing Blue in some form or another; be it tweaking around an old song, rhymes, etc. For example: "Badda Bing Badda Blue", "Wild Blue Yonder", "Blue Moon", etc.

Haha, I'm not THAT old... I guess I was mixing up that song with other dogs named Blue.

I was answering the overall question of why jetBlue has names on each of its aircraft: not figuring out what song that was, who wrote it and how long ago.

Sorry, but I bought the record in 1970 (or was it '71?), so I recognised the play on words straight away. For what it's worth, American popular music does make its way to the far-flung corners of the globe, thankfully.
You mean "A boy named Sue"? That one actually popped up in my head as well reading that list.
And Depeche Mode made a song called Blue Dress, so there is plenty of material to name planes from

Actually I like the Jetblue theme.. I think it is smart. I would love to fly on them but they do not serve MEM. All my friends and even my mother who have flown on Jetblue have said they really like them. I fly AirTran. Even last minute fares are reasonable compared to Dl or NW who I will never fly again. Also you can upgrade to Biz class for 49 bucks usually. Try that on DL or NW. I had a last min flight I had to book. it would have cost me 200 dollars more for a one way ticket in coach to fly DL or NW than I got for a biz class seat on FL.

Think of the brighter side!
25 Wukka: It's actually "New Dress", and you probably wouldn't want those lyrics anywhere near an airplane, even if you substitute "New" for "Blue".
26 JohnKrist: Doh, fan since 1981, long time record collector and I blew that one, very embarrassing... And yes, the Jet airliner part makes it somewhat questionab
27 Mainliner: If you ask me, B6 is grasping at straws for "cute" blue airplane names. Hasta Bluego? I "heart" Blue?? Please.
28 OzarkD9S: Thanks. Looks like my two make better names than a few of those they've come up with!
