MSP - OAK - MSY - ATL on a 319

Anybody know the story behind these flights?

What is the difference between the NW 9800 and 9900 series flight numbers?

9000 flt numbers are special, nonrevenue flight numbers. We use them for charter, ferry, maintenence or check-flights.

We have them already. Ships 3128, 3130-31, 3151-52, 3154, and 3162. Shps 3154 and 3162 will remain in that configuration year-round and will be used for special charters sales in the off-season.

Yes all 9 Airbus' that are used for team charters are in the executive layout. They all have huge seats, LCD's tv's and more.

Do these sports team charters and other's receive meal service, or do they just serve the BOB for no charge?

Oh they get food. And the volume and type of food is good enough buffet for even a King!

Thanks LAXintl. I had a feeling they probably did. I remember reading a TR in regards to flight crew who worked a HA 763 for one of the Seattle teams. They provided first class catering for everyone, front to back, and talking about buffet, for a 4 hour flight, that's what they exactly had in the galleys if they got hungry.

Yes I've enjoyed plenty of good meals on such flights over the years on various carriers from MGM Grand, Express One, Miami Air, Ryanair, NWA and Champion.

Those big boy athletes certainly love their food.

With only 56 seats I would say no, but will defer to the NW experts.

These are exclusive VIP-layout aircraft with 56 seats, full galleys with oven, LCD screens, and other features. Similar to the way the former 727 NBA charter / VIP aircraft operated a few years back, these aircraft are dedicated in this layout and do not fly in scheduled service during the season.

At the conclusion of the NBA season, 7of the 9 aircraft will be converted back into regular passenger configuration (which nicely coincides with the busy summer season). As mentioned, the remaining 2 aircraft will remain in VIP layout for special charter work.

I lucked into a Timberwolves charter back when it was on the 727. 0800 departure from CID after an exposition game to IND. In that 55 minutes we did a 2 course breakfast (with choices), beverage and snacks the franchise requested (Skittles, Tiger Milk bars, etc). The regular 'NBA Queen" FAs had it down to a science. I on the other hand, was running for my jumpseat as we flaired.
