Actually Lufthansa does have a C-Check agreement for their A330/A340 aircraft with Austrain MX at VIE which explains why the A340-600 was there.
They also had MX agreements with SRTechnics in the past and had some of their A343's in ZRH don't know if this still is the case.

Quote: Lufthansa Technik to collaborate with Austrian Technik
Jul 26, 2007
A joint agreement for the expansion of their business cooperation in operational and strategic field was accorded between Austrian Technik and Lufthansa Technik. The two MROs mutually signed an undefined memorandum of understanding in April.
Austrian Airlines discloses that it has completed C checks for Airbus A330s and A340s for Lufthansa. It expects to include Boeing 777s, under the plan of expansion.
Thomas Kleibl, CFO and board member of Austrian, said, "For Austrian, the aim of this cooperation is the successful reduction of overall maintenance costs and securing the future of the Vienna location as an independent technology and know-how center".
