The NBAA are holding their 2008 Convention from 10/6 through to 10/8 at Orlando Florida;

http://web.nbaa.org/public/cs/amc/2008/

Airbus have issued the following press release which contains year to date sales for Airbus Corporate Jets, ACJs and it is quite an interesting breakdown;

Year to date sales consist of 23 frames as follows;

14 x Single Aisle models split between 5 x A318CJ Elites and 9 x ACJs

9 x Widebodies split between 1 x A340 and 8 x A350XWB

Some names have been disclosed with Jet Alliance the buyer of 1 x ACJ and 2 x A318CJ Elites.

BAA Jet Management have become the first S.E. Asian operator of the A318CJ Elite

The most interesting, Saudi Arabia's MAZ Aviation the buyer of 6 x A350XWBs. I stand corrected but I was unaware of this order and of note, it appears to be the biggest single order, placed at once for either the A350XWB or B787-BBJ series.

Fair use excerpt

Airbus (Booth No. 4776) announced here at the NBAA show that it has received 23 orders so far in 2008, including 14 for single-aisle models (five A318s and nine ACJs) and nine for widebodies (eight A350s and one A340). Many of these orders came from undisclosed customers, but Airbus did reveal the names of several buyers, including Jet Alliance (one ACJ and two A318 Elites) and Saudi Arabia-based MAZ Aviation (six A350s).

Any further information on MAZ Aviation would be appreciated

Looks like the Airbus Corporate Jets continue to do very well. The continued sales success of the A318 demonstrates that the launch of the A318 Elite was a good move, and gave the A318 program a much need boost. Hopefully the PW6000 powerplant will manage to grab some sales also.

Interesting to see another A340 sale. This would make it the first A340 sale in 2008, I'm curious to see which model has been chosen. Hopefully it will be for the A340-300 as all frames have been built, with only one to be delivered shortly.

The A350 also continues to do extremely well. Nice to see such confidence that a single customer (MAZ) has gone out and ordered 6 of them. Now the only doubt that remains is the model breakdown.

Wings

There was an Airbus Press Release about the 6x A350 for MAZ already at the Ebace biz aviation show in Geneva earlier this year. Dont have the time now to search for it.

At that time it was an LoI for 1x A358 and 5x A359.
MAZ Aviation already operates A320 VP-BXS and VP-BXT.

I think the man behind the company was involved in the Nas Air Group of Saudi Arabia before.

So are we concluding from this that the MAZ order has been firmed?

Appreciate it, have now found details of the original press release from May 21 2008.

Kogge has provided an answer;

The release I found provides quite a few answers.

Airbus states that the order is it's largest ever order for corporate frames.

Airbus received its largest-ever order for corporate jetliners with the placing of a $1.5 billion order for six A350 Prestige aircraft by Jeddah, Saudi Arabia-based MAZ Aviation.

Breakdown for the 6 A350 Prestige is as stated above and they are destined for more than one undisclosed customer.

The aircraft, one A350-800 and five A350-900s for delivery between 2015 and 2019, are for separate private customers in the Middle East who are already owners of Airbus aircraft, said MAZ Aviation founder and chairman Mohammed Al-Zeer, as he signed the six contracts on behalf of his clients during the first day of EBACE 2008

Given the frames are for seperate customers, is Airbus largest CJ order, it would still be good to clarify whether this is the largest single WB order for Corporate - VVIP use.

They are yet to be listed on the Airbus O&D spreadsheet, it's possible it is being firmed.
