I was driving near Changi airport yesterday (6 Oct 2008) and spotted a very rare visitor . . . an Air New Zealand B747-400. It was about 1745-1800 (local time). NZ ceased ops out of SIN late last year or early this year. To my memory, i don't think NZ ever used a scheduled 747 a/c to SIN. The biggest was their DC-10 years ago in the 80s??. Then it has been 767 - an excruciating 12 hrs flight SIN-AKL. Anyone know about this NZ 747 visit?

Don't know the actual reason for the visit, but I suspect it's probably flying in for maintenance or checks. If you're there again tomorrow, you may want to check if the aircraft is indeed 'resting' in one of the SIA Engineering or SASCO hangers.
NZ did operate the 747-200s to SIN in the mid-80s - have a 1985-86 CAAS magazine to prove that
