I heard that they would use them on there less demand destinations in the U.S. Aren't the A330s replacing there 767s?

I know the 332's will be used to replace the 763, but what about the 333's? They ordered two of them if I'm right.

some, if not all, of the a-332s have been ordered to replace the a-310s, possibly some 763s as well.
so we could see AF use the 332s on many african routes and as well as to some spots in north american (PHL f.e.).

hi
yes the A332 is meant to phase out all 310 and B767
it means you'll find it on routes like western africa, the middle east and possibly IAD,BOS,ORD....

That means more A330s for Boston, probably the US Airport with the most A330s (SABENA, Aer Lingus, Swissair, and Northwest and Air France will be joining them soon).

Are 767's really in a bad need to be replaced??

Not at all An225. Airlines make strategic fleet decisions all the time, and it seems AF wants something a little bigger than the 767. Also, AF is standardizing on Airbus, with the exception of 744s and 777s.

I'm surprised that AF ordered the 332 and not the 764, as the 764 would have commonality with the 777. Were will they fly the 333's to? I know that they ordered two A330-300's.

So the A330 I imagine the 200 version will also be flying the Paris-Cayenne;French Guyana flight as this is currently being served with 767's.

Well, in the fleet, the 332 will be replqcing the 310 and 767 but it will replace also the 340 on the North American routes.

According to Air France's website http://www.airfrance.fr the first transatlantic A330 will be AF336/7 CDG-BOS. At the present moment, the first flight will be 30 December.
