Cayman Airways will resume non-stop service between Miami and Cayman Brac on 17DEC08. It will be CYB's only international service.

KX 404 CYB 1430-1555 MIA WeSa 733
KX 405 MIA 1700-1825 CYB WeSa 733

The new service does not represent an increase in MIA flights, however, as non-stop MIA-GCM service will be reduced from 21x to 19x a week, so capacity is flat.

Cayman Airways will also begin 2x weekly service to Washington Dulles on 13DEC08:

KX 590 GCM 0800-1110 GCM Sa 733
KX 591 IAD 1210-1520 GCM Sa 733

KX 592 GCM 1750-2100 IAD Th 733
KX 593 IAD 0900-1210 GCM Fr 733

Cayman Airways will also resume service to Chicago O'Hare on 17DEC08, discontinued a few years ago:

KX 504 GCM 0800-1055 ORD WeSu 733
KX 505 ORD 1210-1705 GCM WeSu 733

Nice to see Cayman Airways spreading her wings and operating to a new North American destination for the winter season.

Perfectly fine with me. Not everyone is reading those long and winding catch-all threads.

What is the runway length at CYB?

The Gerrard Smith International Airport's runway is 6,000 ft long.

Thanks.

I asked because I was wondering about payload restricitons for aircraft like the 737 when flying out of CYB. CYB-MIA is only 450 miles or so, but on a hot summer day, it still sounds a bit challenging.

I notice all these flights are 733. Are there any 732 left?

Listen Betty, don't start up with your 'White Zone' s*** again.

KX has one 732 left in the fleet; however it is currently idle at GCM and is used on rare occasions. Cayman Airways recently expressed an interest in acquiring two Embraer 170 jets; however those plans are now on hold. Instead, Cayman Airways will short-lease another 733 soon for the upcoming winter season.

Just nitpicking here, but although the press release says IAD is twice weekly and that is the info going around the sight, there are actually three weekly flights bookable online.

The Cayman Brac flights will be routed GCM-CYB-MIA-CYB-GCM, so hopefully they won't be too empty as GCM passengers will be able to book he flight, and it will only add 20-30 minutes to the travel time (GCM-CYB is a 10 minute segment, and they usually turn the 733 in about 15 minutes in CYB).

You are correct, GCM-IAD-GCM will operate 3x weekly according to KX's website. Is the last 732 still idle at GCM?

I miss seeing Sir Turtle at IAH. Too bad CO starting that route and seemingly kicked KX out after MANY years.

Any chance we'll see the turtle back in Texas?

I was thinking the same thing. But as you mentioned, with CO running IAH-GCM, it is unlikely that KX will return, despite having a 30 year history at IAH.
