Hey all, I've just got this SUPER idea to nrev NW to NRT on the days before, of or after Christmas...IF all looks good coming back by then (DL or NW if I have to) and I'm wondering something about the seating chart.

1. I think I am correct but want to know are rows 72-80 in the upper deck?

2. Again pretty sure but...are rows 1-4 on the lower deck right in the nose?

3. As of now (subject to change I know) the best flight is the 26th, Wide Open!! So would should it stay that way would I have a fair chance of sitting in the upper deck or in the nose area?

Thanks for all your help everyone.

I thought those are some of the WORST days to non-rev?

Well its all just a possibility at this point. But generally I have found that flying on a holiday and or the day after can be great. One example July 3, 07 I flew CVG-ANC r/t, July 4, 07 am flight CVG-SFO r/t and caught the late flight CVG-LAX r/t and on the 5th day I rested lol.

Especially to NRT, for some reason.

@CVG2LGA:

If you go, make sure your flights home have a good number of seats on them, because I thought about going to NRT last Xmas and the flights were hopelessly oversold both ways, on every NW Transpac flight. Also, while the loads appear "WIDE OPEN" now, keep in mind it is 2.5 months in advance  Wink

July 4th is a bad justification for good holiday loads. More people travel for Christmas than July 4th and last time I checked people only celebrate the 4th of July here.

Generally, you don't have a choice of seat when you nonrev...Usually upper deck and 1-4 are full, so IF you get WBC most likely you will be in rows 9-12 somewhere...

I don't know if he will be able to fly WBC since he's not an NW employee.

I wouldn't call 100 seats left open in Y on a 338 Capacity Y plane wide open especially with 2.5 months left.

Believe it or not I thought so too, but when I flew Southwest on a 3 day non rev trip it was Dec 25, 26 and 27th.

WIDE Open.

My routes were STL-MDW-IND on the 25th, about 36 full both segments

IND-LAS-MCI 26th, we had 40 full IND-LAS and I repeat only EIGHT people on board LAS-IND day after xmas.

Then 27th MCI-STL it got a bit fuller to 100 seats full but still 37 left open.

Well xmas day is like the slowest day to fly, Alex. the 26th,27th people are usually still with family depending on when the hoilday falls.

Right, thats what the OP is mentioning, and you said they were the worst days to fly, when it usually isn't for the reason you just mentioned yourself.

It usually is the beginning of the week before and after Xmas or following new years etc. not right before or after usually.

But people can do crazy things such as get better deals out even on xmas evening if they have to save money
