Interesting article in todays Independent newspaper, about how 18 of the UK's main airports saw a decline in passenger numbers last month and is the first decline in traffic in over 20yrs...

Passenger numbers across the UK, fell from 20.8 million in Sept 07 to 19.9 million in Sept 08, the worst effected are listed below. I am sure XL Airways' decline had an impact on the first 5 airports in that list!

Glasgow -11%
Cardiff -10%
Newcastle -10%
Gatwick 6.8%
Manchester 6/7%
Stansted -4.7%
Aberdeen -4.2%
Heathrow -3.6%

There were only four airports that saw an increase in numbers and these included London City with an increase of 11% and Luton which saw numbers increase of 1.9%.
