Quote: bmi, the only British airline operating to Saudi Arabia, announced that it is doubling the number of flights between Riyadh and London. Effective 14-Jan-09, bmi will depart from Riyadh six times a week, direct and non-stop to London Heathrow. Flights will operate every day with the exception of Fridays.
In announcing the changes, Max Hunt, general manager – Middle East for bmi says “ We are thrilled that we now have the opportunity to expand our service between Riyadh and London. The new bilateral agreement to increase frequencies between the 2 Kingdoms has shown that there is a need to provide better flexibility, service and connectivity in order to support increased business activity between London and Riyadh’
BA's loss is the gain for bmi. Bmi is doing exceedingly well in Saudi Arabia. The load factor is very high and almost 100% during the summer.

Quoting Humberside (Reply 1): As a consequence of this however Jeddah losses non-stop service. New pattern is 3xWeek LHR-Riyadh-Jeddah and 3xWeek LHR-Riyadh-Damman
Interesting. Is this because most British-based business is going to RUH? Or perhaps SV's schedule is better to JED?
