ThomsonFly are to close their CVT base in November, leaving only freight and business/general aviation at CVT, so inevitable job losses. Wizz Air pulled out earlier this year

At one point TUI owned the lease on CVT

I totally misread your thread title! Big grin

Well CVT to BHX is only 15 miles so I'm sure residents of the area will cope.

They will for sure, but truly a "disaster" for CVT.

Presume this is after the new terminal planning was thrown out?

Are the flights going to BHX or just disappearing?

Think CVT will return to just Cargo/GA as cannot see anyone trying
there...

cheers

I think it is such a pity that the residents( who knew there was an airport when the brought the houses) made it impossible for CVT to be a viable airport against the bigger BHX. I personally do not like BHX as it is a bunfight and was looking forward to more flights from the convenient and easy CVT.
Sad for all there who tried to make it a satisfactory experience for the passengers and also for the staff who will lose thier jobs in an uncertain time.
I am sure the reason for TUIFly coming out was entirely due to the lack of a satisfactory terminal building. No competiton from a local airport means BHX will jack up the costs. They are already the only airport I know that charges for setdown.

The fact that it's made a loss since day one is probably also a factor.

Dont forget the airport workers at CVT who could well end up loosing their jobs as a result of this

I thought the CVT hub was doing well but on asking for a family friend who works for the airline she said that CVT was easily replaced with little inconvenience to the pax.

I was also surprised to hear that in the summer 2009 Thomson Airways are looking to base yet another aircraft at Bournemouth Airport (who Wizz also pulled out of last month).

My thoughts are with the workers are CVT, I wonder which if any other airlines will move in now?

Kimberly.

Something to do with the local Government refusing development at the airport I should suspect. http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/new...appeal-is-rejected-92746-21980432/

Destinations which were timetabled for this Winter were...

Malaga
Alicante
Faro
Jersey
Salzburg
.... all using Boeing 737-300's

I suppose this will allow continued withdrawal of the 737 Classics rather than reassignment of fleet.

That would be a surprise. Is there enought 'charter type' work for 2 TOM aircraft at BOH now FR have scheduled covered?

Indeed I too would be surprised, especially considering they pulled one aircraft this summer making it a one-aircraft-only base.

Where was your source, Kimberlyrj?
