Qantas Airways' inaugural Airbus A380 to serve Los Angeles is scheduled to arrive from Melbourne, on October 20, 2008 as QF93 at 7:30 a.m landing on runway 25L.

The flight will proceed and park at TBIT gate 101 for passenger deplaning and customs.

The A380 will then be re-positioned at 945am for several events at the Flight Path Learning Center (former Imperial Terminal) at 6661 West Imperial Highway.

In addition contrast in size John Travolta will have his Qantas livery B707 N707JT on hand at the Imperial Terminal for the events.

There will be demonstration flight departing at 12noon from 25L for invited guest returning to LAX at 2pm also making use of 25L.

The A380 and N707JT will remain on display at the Flight Path Leaning Center between 2pm and 730pm when the 380 will be repositioned back to TBIT gate 101 for its return flight to MEL at 11:30pm as QF94.

Just a question. When I in December (21st) fly out from TBIT at around 17:30 (BA282) will I see any QF A380 parked at a gate??

I would say no. TBIT is constrained such that QF can't leave aircraft at the gate all day long since it would arrive in the morning and not depart until the evening. QF has a large parking area for its aircraft.

LAXintl- Thanks for the information. I will be sure to be there on Monday.

I do have a question about the Flight Path 'display'. Does that mean the public is allowed in for this event? Will the A380 be open for viewing?

Thanks again for the info.
Cheers,

I will not be on this flight, unfortunately, as I will be travelling to Singapore and Sydney for the Singapore Airlines A380 first anniversary of commercial flight with my birthday party on board same as last year. I cannot do everything/be everywhere. Choices have to be made.

My friend Isabelle Chu from Perth will be on board Nancy, the Qantas bird for the first Qantas A380 commercial flight. She will be doing the round-trip. She will have the privilege to be able to walk on the aircraft wing (on the ground). I always had this same wish but she is beating me to it!

She was also on the first SIA A380 flights Sydney-Singapore-Sydney and also on the first Emirates 380 flights DXB-JFK-DXB. I look forward to her stories and pictures.

I wish Nancy, all the passengers, cockpit and cabin crews a very happy flight and a great time on board the QF380 inaugurals.

No, sadly the events including aircraft tours at the Flight Path is not open to the public but only invited guest including media and travel professionals.

But - the aircraft and activity should be quite viewable from the Imperial Hill however.

Rumor is that Mr Travolta will actually be onboard the first 380 Flight. I even heard he will be in the flight deck. Should be interesting.

Well there will be a bit of Hollywood involved.

When the QF 380 is positioned over to the Imperial Terminal, JohnTravolta, Olivia Newton-John, QF CEO Geoff Dixon and a QF Captain will deplane down the stairs to the waiting reception as if this was the flights real arrival. Good photo op for sure.

btw N707JT arrived LAX this morning from France

I hope you will have a great flight and a really nice time on board! You will be among the first to fly the first Qantas A380 commercially.

You will be a part of Australian aviation history!

You can look up my friend Isabelle Chu. She will be on board with all her flight certificates from all her other inaugural flights on other aircrafts I suppose. Most probably wearing a commemorative T shirt of some kind.

She was invited to go on board Nancy when the aircraft was in Perth. She posted pictures on her Facebook page but she did not make them public, unfortunately.

I will have to ask her to join A.net.

Have a great trip!!!  cheerful   cheerful   cheerful

Good pic of the take-off in this article and confirmation of three aircraft by the end of the year, plus some other stuff:

http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=649922

"The presence of A380s in the Qantas fleet is set to grow, with the airliner confirming it will take delivery of three A380s by the end of this year, another eight by the end of 2009 and 20 by the end of 2013.

"We have started discussions with Airbus about increasing our order of A380s beyond 20," Mr Dixon said last month."
