Thanks for posting, I had seen them on the charter division webpage but didn't want to post them just in case, even though the NBA paid for these interiors.

Just so everyone knows, 1st pictures is the middle cabin, this is where the coaches will sit since there will be TV's there, they can watch the game tapes etc.

2nd and 3rd pictures are the forward cabin, most of the players sit in this section and back in the aft cabin. There is a full DVD library onboard, and the planes will be getting Satellite for navigation purposes eventually. Talk is about adding two more charter planes as these planes do NHL, and NBA.

Here are the teams that NW charters with these aircraft... all but two NBA teams.
Atlanta Hawks
Boston Celtics
Charlotte Bobcats
Chicago Bulls
Cleveland Cavaliers
Denver Nuggets
Detroit Pistons
Golden State Warriors
Houston Rockets
Indiana Pacers
Los Angeles Clippers
Los Angeles Lakers
Memphis Grizzlies
Miami Heat
Milwaukee Bucks
Minnesota Timber Wolves
New Jersey Nets
New Orleans Hornets
New York Knicks
Oklahoma City Thunder
Orlando Magic
Phoenix Suns
Portland Trailblazers
Sacramento Kings
San Antonio Spurs
Utah Jazz
Washington Wizards

NW doesn't charter Dallas (own aircraft) or Toronto (Air Canada Jazz)

NW Charters from what I remember 6 NHL teams this year.
1. Philadelphia Flyers
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.

Perhaps Favre can fill us in on the last ones?

We had both N880DP and one of the NBA configured NWA A319's here in GRR last week for a pre-season game between the San Antonio Spurs and the Detroit Pistons.

They flew on N756AF which was also the Seahawk 757. The Seahawks have not used that aircraft in almost 2 years and according to this caption, the aircraft now belongs to Google.

NW didn't have any say in it, NBA told them what the seats would look like and how it was to be laid out cabin wise, NW just bid for the flying.

When I first saw the pics I was wondering if I was looking at some kind of old 80's plane(s) that they used. And to think QF got buried on this site for the green in use on the A380 interior shots.  Smile

How many Airbuses does NWA have outfitted in this configuration? And please forgive my ignorance for I really don't know how the charter operations run.....but why does NWA have special configurations for sports charter while other airlines simply fly their sports charters in the planes normal passengers configuration?

There will be 7 A319s.

The configuration is an NBA requirement. NFL teams almost universally use standard configured aircraft (DL, HA, NW).

NW does, but MLB, NHL, and NBA charters are done on this type of aircraft (well, MLB for the last bit has been on regular planes), but back when NW had this configuration they had a dedicated fleet of 727's in this config.

Wow...what do the aircraft do when they're not flying for the NBA? Seems like a lot of aircraft to tie up and to sit around all day...but I'm sure they're being paid well.

One more question: Where do they get the seats from?

Thanks for posting them OP!

Not in the know, but they will have no operational costs when not flying, and when they are flying they are paid the same regardless of how many people are travelling. So they have a guaranteed flight with guaranteed money and if they wanted to take some aircraft out of service due to lack of use then they can go here and still be money makers,
