At the end of this year, for the first time in my memory, there are no scheduled mainline Delta flights between LIT and ATL. Recently the 5-8 daily flights have been a mix of aircraft with one or two remaining MD-88's each day. According to the new schedules for January, most flights will be small CRJ's with perhaps one 900 each day. Depressing.

I believe the only reason that DL was keeping mainline in markets like MOB and LIT was because of the premium cabin. Now they have an alright for RJ standards CASM aircraft with a premium cabin, and I think that will prevail in markets like ours.
Seems like we lucked out a bit more though, as we have typically have 7 daily flights, 4 of which have a premium cabin. (Either the CR9 or the E170)
It is depressing in sentimental regards, but quite rational on the part of DL, and we still keep first class! (Which used to be history upon losing mainline.)

Like MOBflyer said, at least you guys get a premium cabin on a flight or two. SYR went from several daily MD80s to all CRJs. They've since given us back some CR7s, but we've yet to see any premium cabins return, much to the dismay of several Medallions I know (DL is the 3rd largest carrier at SYR, with ~15% of the market). Right now we have NW mainline, and I hope like hell they don't cut it when they do the aircraft shuffle while they "synergize" later on.

Kinda suprising, but not if they get a few -900's. a couple years ago I was going to LIT almost monthly for work, paying outrageous fares from ATL, and LIT was one of the toughest places for be to get an upgrade. I remember being rather annoyed a few times when I was on an $800 fare and my upgrade didnt clear.
Experience is what you get when what you thought would work out didn't!

I'm a Medallion member and it stinks! It has almost gotten to the place where I say, "Why be loyal?"

LIT is showing 6x CR2, 1 CR7 and 1 CR9 in January.
Right now they're at 3x CR2, 3x CR9, 1 CR7 and 1 MD80. It looks like the Maddog is actually being replaced by a CR2.
Thats a decent cut. Someone in LIT piss off a delta planner?

The last post makes my point better than I did. It's not just that the MD-88's are gone (some days now there are two) but 6x CR2, 1 CR7, and 1 CR9 don't do much to maintain first class seats either. The CR2 is my least favorite jet to fly on and for a while it looked like we were getting fewer of them instead of more of them. LIT is down to this plus 2x ERJ to CVG. Nothing west at all anymore either. Currently there are several daily DC9 and A319/320 flights on Northwest to Memphis so maybe some of those will stay on as Delta in the future.
