(Mods... I really have no idea which fourm this belongs in, sorry if I chose the wrong one!)

I'm in Toledo for the week, and was looking for a Bank Of America ATM or branch to deposit a check... On the map, I noticed a little northeast of where I am right now (Toledo Hilton) there's a dot for "Air Line Junction"

It doesn't show up on Google Maps, and just about all Google has turned up is "Air Line Junction is a community or populated place (Class Code U4) located in Lucas County at latitude 41.639 and longitude -83.582. The elevation is 617 feet."

Anyone heard of this place? Anyone know the history behind the name?

Once upon a time "Air Line" was a term railroads used to describe a supposedly straighter-than-usual route. In this case the "Air Line" was a new line west from Toledo to improve on the original alignment, and Air Line Junction was where it split off from the older route. Rejoined the old route near Elkhart as I recall; built... maybe before 1900?
