Hi!
I just wonder who is going to fly the B707 on its 50th anniversary of pax operations this Sunday, 26OCT08.
Airevents has a group of about 15 international "aerogeeks" going to Iran this weekend, and it is our current plan to fly the SAHA AIR on Sunday, 26OCT08 from THR to MHD! After the successful anniversary flight we will be the only ones really celebrating this great jubilee after flying the bird on its 50th birthday!
I just wonder: are there other international aviation enthusiasts doing their pilgrimage to Iran the 26OCT08 to fly the last Boeing 707 in passenger service??

While their may be only one B707 in pax service left, here in the DRC, Hewa Bora's B707 freighter routinely carriers huge loads of Congolese soldiers. I don't know even want to know how many aviation regulations they break with the non-existent seating arrangements. So, if you want to fly on a B707, all you have to do is join the Congo's Army.

I think I'll rather go for Saha Air again, sitting back in the green chothed seats, chatting with the flight attendants and being served pistachio nuts, cake and Iranian cola (Can't make it 26 october though)
nobody has ever died from hard work, but why take the risk?

Oh man, I just got up close with John Travolta's 707 at LAX yesterday (didn't get inside, of course), and now I'm REALLY jealous. The big event at LAX may have been for the A380 but that beautiful 707 stole the show.

Humm! I had no idea of this. 26 October is my birthday (or more so my half-birthday as I was born on the 25th at midnight). I would have loved to go too. It's been one zillion years since I have not flown on a B-707!! Oh well... I will be on board the SIA 380 instead!!
There was a better way to fly it was called Concorde

Quoting Rikkus67 (Reply 10): Does SAHA AIR know the significance of this date in relation to the aircraft they are flying?
No, as far as we know, they do NOT! Funny, isn't it?
Image a big celebration with SAHA and Boeing officials in Tehran on Sunday... if it wasn't such a bloody bad relation between Iran and USA, this could be imagined...
