Just thought you people would like to hear about an interesting night in Anchorage(ANC) last night...
A Delta MD-11 flying from Portland(PDX) to Nagoya(NGO) diverted to ANC last night do to a medical emergency(heart attack). The flight was almost half way across the Pacific when it turned back to ANC.The interesting part I thought was that after landing in ANC...the flight returned to PDX due to the fact it could not continue to NGO due to an airport cerfew in NGO...so all passenger's flew back to PDX and arrived in PDX about 4am(local time).
It's interesting to fly for about 10 hours and arrive at your orginal departure airport, huh? hehehehe!
Also,a Northwest 747 (NW flight 008) from Narita to Seattle diverted to ANC early sunday morning due to a mechanical problem...the aircraft is still in ANC over 12 hours later...I don't know how NW accomidated the passengers...I hope they are still not stuck on-board hehehe!

Does anyone have info about the NGO airport? Is Delta Airlines the only airline operating Non-Stop flight from the USA to NGO?

Well, I was out by the spotting area by rwys. 32/14 and saw a NW DC-10 at the gate and then depart... perhaps this was with passengers from NW008, since 757s are usually the only passenger configured a/c NW flies to ANC at this time of year...

Funny that you mention that AS737900, I was in the domestic terminal and saw that airplane today, seems like their -10s are a rare sight in the daytime these days. I recorded the number on the nose gear door...it was 1157:

NW will be going daily on the DTW-NGO with the new schedule on April 1. This flight will continue to MNL, thus offering 21 weekly flights to MNL from Japan, the most of any airline from the US/Japan.
In the summer NW flies the DC10 from MSP to ANC as well as to NRT from ANC. Maybe there was an equip change due to the heavy loads...
