The low-cost carrier reported a net loss of $4 million, or two cents a share, compared with net income of $23 million, or 12 cents a share, a year earlier. Revenue increased 18% to $902 million. Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters expected a loss of four cents a share and revenue of $899 million.

Per-gallon fuel costs increased 61% to $3.42 a gallon. JetBlue hedged 45% of its fuel consumption during the period and realized $26 million in fuel-hedging gains.

Beat analysts' expectations, and a nice operating profit. Also, paying down debt, and an optimistic look of the fourth quarter. Overall, good results for the current economy.
