Icelandair 757 Question

I have just stepped off an Icelandair flight after a (incredible) weekend in Iceland.

The plane I flew (same plane going there as well) was TF-FIV which the F/A announced over the intercom was a brand new plane (757-200 in new colours!). It certainly looked new.

Firstly: When was this plane delivered??

Second: When did boeing start putting in the new 757 interiors. It looks SO much better than any other 757 interior I have experienced (eg: IB, UA, BA).

Third: Is 757-200 production going to end soon with the advent of the 757-300?

Finally, I would like to congratulate Icelandair on superb service and an excellent product. For an airline renowned for cheap fares (esp. USA-EUR) I was astounded by the quality. I would certainly fly them again and recommend them to anyone considering a Europe-USA flight with a difference. And TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE STOPOVER IN ICELAND. IT'S A GREAT COUNTRY.

The 752 production line will not end with the advent of the 753. The 753 is larger and can seat many more people. The 753 is just a varitaion of the 752.

Qantas SP: One of the reasons I went was to visit a (australian) friend working there. He says he's the only permanent Australian resident there as far as he knows and Iceland being so small he's probably right!

When did you move to Australia??? It is so different to Iceland, it must have been a shock to the system!

Have flown Icelandair twice and also think they are brilliant. And what a great country. Love the stopovers. Nice way to travel. 757 is great on these routes.

I moved here after representing Iceland in the Sydney consulate. I decided to live here after that and I joined Qantas in an executive copacity. I have been back to Reykjavic many times since. It was a big shock coming here for the first time

I do not know the specific delivery date, but I spotted TF-FIV at RNT in the second week of February. Usually delivery happens a few weeks after rollout, and the plane was already fully painted but had not flown yet. According to Bill Harms' "Commercial Jet Aircraft Census" (http://www.bird.ch/bharms), this is a 757-208, c/n 30424, number 956 off the line. I hope this is some help.

Justplanesmart: thanks for the info. The plane must have been very recently delivered then.

Qantas 747-sp - could you email me? (email's in my profile). It's just that, if you were OK with it, I would like to have a chat to you about life in the executive at QF as it is in such a capacity in an airline that I would like to work when I finish university. Also to find out more more about Iceland, a country which I fell immediately in love with (it must be those hot baths!)

Actually, Icelandair's newest plane was delivered on the 12/13th of March, with the name Gudridur Thorbjarnardottir (Guðríður Þorbjarnardóttir).
I totally agree with Icelandair being a terrific airline, as I've flown them God knows how many times and they've always been good.

ned

ps.(I have a trip report posted on a flight I took with them in Feb. in the Trip Reports forum)
