For the short haul fleet, LAN will complete the retrofit program for its A32S fleet by the end of the year. All A32S fleet will be configurated in a single class according the new configuration type for short haul routes.

Hi, thanks for the info. Good news...as usual with LAN. I think we have a really nice product here, and this news only make me feel more proud of the airline we enjoy in this beautiful small country.
The fleet will be ( or already is ) really new and comfortable, but the people of LAN deserves the thumbs up here, every men and woman who work every day all over the world, they are the soul of this great airline. Keep the good work and LAN will stay as one of the finest airlines of the world.

Looks like a few 77Ws might top up the B789 at one point and provide the adequate replacement for both B763 and A343, unless some A350s might do just that.
Are they using the A343 for the longer legs and over-water capability than B763 or for the capacity gap? B789 will be enough if the former (granted they attain the necessary longer ETOPS certification), but may not help if the latter.

Quoting RJ_Delta (Reply 4): LAN expects to receive its first B787-9 by the end of December 2012. With the reception of the B787-9 LAN will start the retirement of its A340 fleet.
Thanks for all the information and details. LAN remains the best airline in the region, and its new business class already implemented in all strong B767 fleet is a reflection of LAN's commitment to high quality standards.
I would expect when the B787 are delivered in 2012 that perhaps LAN will even unveil another, more updated version of the already excellent business class product.

Quoting AA1818 (Reply 8): Does this include subsidiaries LAN Peru, LAN Argentina and LAN Ecuador?
Affirmative. The new Airbuses to come will be moved to increase the capacity the LAN's subisidaries in the Americas. By 2009, three Airbus A318 will be transfer to LAN Ecuador to start domestic operations, and probably a four aircraft will be added in the future to expand the LAN Ecuador network.
Also by December 2008, LAN Argentina will receive another A320 to start the daily flight to Lima in addition to the others two LAN Peru flights.

Any information on possible new routes of upgrades on flights from Brazil to Argentina? Perhaps the long-awaited EZE-GIG or double daily EZE-GRU, or the agreement with TAM has now constrained Lan Argentina's expansion in Brazil?

The plan for add more A343 was cancelled. The two A340 considered by LAN was taken by others companies (Iberia for example). The plans to open european routes were delayed until further advice.

Seems that LAN is not focusing to grow on Long Haul as during the next 3 years they will be adding just 3 763.

Hardi first they need to increase 4M flights to daily (they only fly 6x weekly EZE-GRU). I believe LAN expansion in Brazil will be connected to TAM but i expect some news for Rio as LA decided to set up a local office (yes.. they work only thru travel agent/consolidators till Oct 31) which could be defined as they want to expand their operations. 4M could venture on some markets like EZE-CNF and EZE-Northeast, both unexplored by JJ nor RG/G3 nor AR.
New York + Rio de Janeiro = One of the best combinations !

Quoting JAL (Reply 20): How about their 787s? Will they replace the 767 and A340?
Yes. The long haul fleet will be unify in a single type of aircraft B787s.
In relation with the B777 for passenger service, LAN expects that its first B789 will be delivered by the end 2012. If it is not possible LAN and Boeing Commercial are working closer to evaluate different options:
- One option refers to add more B763s during the next years to increase the longhaul fleet.
- The second alternative is the possibility to adcquire a mix of B763 and B777s
Although they are seeking the evolution of the B787 program, LAN is not worried about the delays during the next years if them doesn't affect the deliveries from 2012, because LAN has planified the B787s to attend the demand based on the forecast for those years and not for the current needs of the company, which can be satisfied with the current Boeing 767s fleet.

Would love to see LAN 777, if they do not as an interim solution but as a permanent fleet for SCL to MAD. SCL to Auckland and Sydney would be great 777 destinations too, let the A340-300 leave ASAP.
