Sorry, no article to link (the Canby Herald decided not to put this one up on their web page just yet), but according to today's Canby Herald:
UAO (Aurora State Airport, Oregon) will be receiving a 1976 Oshkosh M-1500 from SLE. Apparently, the city of Salem has acquired a new ARFF vehicle, and donated the old one to the Aurora Airport.
Kind of odd news, as UAO doesn't have Part 139 certification (that is, scheduled air service facilities). UAO has a single, 5000' runway which was resurfaced two years ago (and re-engineered for higher axle loads at the same time), and features a localizer approach (no glideslope). As far as I know, the field master plan has the airport remaining a GA-only field for the forseeable future.
It is also my base of operations when I am able to fly (which is not right now-medical issues ).
