So I was looking at the schedule in December I am going to NY and I want to leave in the evening on the 10th. I noticed one thing that is a real big disapointment. First of all AC used to have two YVR-YYZ red eye flights, and that has been changed to one 77W, which I am not the biggest fan of, it is a personal choice but the coffins that AC has put up in J are terribly miserable if your 6 foot 5 like me. An old 333 would have been great, but I guess I am out of luck, 90% of my 763 flights have also been in the new planes, and while parts of the products are better, I still prefered the old seats (I know I am not with the majority).
Second issue with their schedule is they STOPPED flying the red eye to YUL. I have used this flight once ever 1-2 months for a VERY long time now and while it is currently flying (AC186 I believe it is) in December it is no longer flying. Leaving YVR in the evening my only choice is now to fly YVR-YYZ-YUL or leave at a different time of day.
When I have flown 186 the flights were always full (I know that means nothing about yield but they were full) and it was normally flown with a 321. Anyhow this is quite disapointing to know that the YVR-YUL/YYZ red eyes has gone from 3 flights, down to 1.
Anyhow I love AC but I am just curious why would they cancel these flights? Aircraft shortage or a lack of profit?

From what I can see, by the middle of December, the red-eye to YUL is back and depending on the day of the week , there are still 2 red-eyes to YYZ. So I am not sure what dates you are referring to exactly.
AC has definitely tweaked their winter scheds and will continue to do so. What you see today may not be what you see tomorrow.
As for YYZ - they are throwing on some real heavy metal so even though frequency being cut, some 773, 772 and 333 flights are being put on that route, so overall capacity cuts are not as big as you think when you first look at it.
Same with YYC-east, fewer flights, but also with smaller planes - 16 daily flights to YYZ.YUL.YOW and 6-7 (depending on day of week) of them on E90s, 3 on 319s, only 1 321 flight per day and no widebodies at all!

Quoting Flyyul (Reply 1): Red eye flight AC182 YVRYUL is operating, however not on tue/wed in december.
You know what, I was looking for the date I want (on the 10th - A Wed) and I did not even think to check other dates, but from what I recall, was it not always a daily flight? I suppose it is a bit of a cutback.
