Here's a breif status of Dreamliner #1.

1) The brake monitoring software issue has been resolved and the software is undergoing lab testing wtih the test flight version of the software.

2) Thrust reversers have been installed on the aircraft as of Oct. 30th

3) Inboard flaps to be installed today

4) IAM vote on for later on today...other than the presidential election this is probably the most widely watched vote in aviation circles

I hope some a.net photographers are out there to get the kind of great shots of that first takeoff that they're well known for. Looking forward to seeing the pic's.

I'll just be glad to see Dreamliner 1 being rolled out of the factory for the last time!

I am surprised to hear that. I imagined that such work would be done by the IAM.

When IAM is on strike, the normal prohibitions against IAM work being done by non-IAM go out the window...anyone qualified and certified to do the work can do it when the union is on strike.

If at first you dont succeed, remove all evidence you ever tried.

IAM approved the contract, see below:

My question, any tentative date for delivery? Boeing has got to get this bird flying.....soon rather than later.

Dave

Can I have a mojito on this flight?

Understood. I wonder how many there are.

I wonder how quickly work will resume on the first flight aircraft. Can the IAM guys turn up to work and carry on from where they were before the strike?

I don't think they ever did set a date. There were targets before the strike (e.g. 4th quarter of 2008) but no firm date.

I assume that something must have been done on the airplane in the last several weeks, so I don't think it's as simple as picking up where they left off. However, any aircraft production system ought to keep track of what jobs are done and what aren't so, in theory, they should be able to pick up with the next job and go to it.
