American had announced starting in October that flight AA957 MIA-SCL was going to be operated by 777 for the southern hemisphere summer-peak season. AA.com shows now back to traditional 763, plus the already anounced 2nd frequency three times per week. DL already announced 764 upgrade for the ATL-SCL. I wonder if there will be more cuts.....any comments

Yes, AA was scheduled to fly 957/912 with the 772 effective Nov. 2nd; however, the 763 will remain on the route as it has for many years. AA even advertised the return of the 772 to SCL at its office in Las Condes, but deceided that the 772s could be used elsewhere. It's a shame as I was looking forward to seeing the 772 at SCL.

With Chicago-Beijing being delayed I'd imagine that they'd have the excess 777s for at least half of the peak schedule. Is Heathrow getting 2 777 routes back?

Hmm...I wonder where theyre going. Also the daytime MIA-GRU flight is showing as a 763. I think that was going to be a 777 wasnt it?

If so where are they going to put these planes?

I thought for a second that second frequency was going to be made daily. But I guess not. I had already booked my ticket on the 777 but I guess now will be back to the 763.

Something fishy is going on here. AA was always planning on having the daylight be a 763 during the period in which they operate a 4th daily flight - a 763 redeye. However, now with a 763 showing for the daylight during the rest of winter (but a 772 is showing during summer), that would mean AA is going to RON a 763 at GRU.

I think things will be cleared up with next week's schedule load.

As has been mentioned, there was talk of AA upgrading a Paris route or two to a 772.

This winter AA will be short on 763s as they go into winglet conversion and AA will be short on 752s as they go into trans-Atlantic conversion.

It's very weird for AA to do this. Hopefully it will be cleared up soon.

That's strange, as it is towards the end of the Chilean summer. The SCL base was ready for the 772 and all of a sudden its off of their bid sheets. AA Customer Service was very understanding and helpful on the phone with me since I already purchased tickets for 957/912 and they told me I can change my dates as I wish since there was an equipment change.

Hope it could be to upgrade MIA-GIG during the Brazilian Summer. AA would make a hit on JJ plans with a better equipment than TAM 763.

New York + Rio de Janeiro = One of the best combinations !

I think we might see the T7's at CDG instead, as previously mentioned by MAH4546.

Deep South America uses 2 aircraft, and they only need 1 to fly MIA-CDG. What will be the use of the other one, JFK-CDG ? ORD-CDG ?

Definately not ORD-CDG. It would be JFK-CDG if one was upgraded.

JFK-CDG and MIA-CDG would be my guess. MIA-MAD was just upgraded to the 772.

AA flew the 772 on the SCL route in 2003 and 2004 seasonally. I never thought that they would bring it back to SCL, only time will tell.
