I tried doing a search but could find nothing.
I was wondering If united was fairing okay against southwest in the denver market. It seems like everyother week Southwest is announceing new service out of Denver.
While I do not prefer wither carrier I absoulutley will not fly southwest.
I notice that united often matches Southwests fair, can they afford to do this?

How aggressively is WN pricing in DEN these days? Their pattern seems to be that they come in to a market with very low fares and then progressively ratchet them up. They've been in some DEN markets for a fair amount of time now.

You don't prefer EITHER carrier, but you ABSOLUTELY will not fly Southwest? So you in fact prefer United? ????????? I don't quite understand why you say you do not prefer either carrier. It seems that you in fact prefer United.

I would fly united over southwest. If those where the choices. AA, Continental and frontier are what I fly out of denver.

I'm sure they have, There is alot of advertisment from southwest about non stops from 59-79 throughtout the country right now.

Based on his screenname, I think his "preferred" carrier is AA above all the others. The way I interpretted what he said, he doesn't necessarily like UA or WN, but will choose UA over WN if those are the only options.

United offers you all of that but I as a non-elite only have access to a few of those - Channel 9 and the Frequent Flyer Miles. Not all saying you don't earn them but if I'm flying between two cities served by both carriers, from where I'm sitting, Southwest and United offer me about the same product, and while I fly quite a bit (7-10 times a year), they're generall short flights of under 2,000 miles round-trip so I don't accumulate the frequent flyer mileage to make elite.

Regarding the topic...
I have found that UA has not been competitive on any flight I've taken since SWA came to Denver. Invariably, SWA has much better fares, no fees (I am not any sort of elite flier or executive member, or such), better connections...and, if you want me to go into the weeds a bit...(on all SWA flights I've been on, which is around 26 legs now) SWA has always had cleaner a/c, friendlier FAs, great seating assignments (I'm always in Group A). Knock on wood, I have not had one problem ever with SWA since I started flying them when they entered Denver. In retrospect, I have had an issue of some sort on every other UA flight for the past few years. SWA wins hands down in my book. Although I give support to F9, I cannot ignore the great service and better fares I've recieved from SWA.

I have been wanting to fly SWA out of Denver, but F9 was significantly cheaper this summer and UA (really UAX) offers non-stops to a couple of cities I fly to.
