Just heard an unusual sound flying by in LIS and saw it was a Yak 42. www.ana.pt showed it as a Donbassaero flight from Donetsk via Venice.

Anyone know what it's doing at LIS?

Pity it's rather grey weather, otherwise it would be a nice spotting opportunity.

Charter flight bringing Shaktar Donetsk football team to Lisbon for the Champions League match against Sporting de Lisboa.

In two weeks, you can see this equipment at BCN!  Wink

For your information, Lisbon airport has seen Yak-42 equipment this past winter from LWO to LIS with an intermediate stop at MAD as scheduled flights of Lviv Airlines.

Regards,

Gerard

So if some Shaktar player does not hear the ref whistle is because he's still deaf after the Yak experience Big grin

Are you sure? I heard that is a non-noise aircraft allowed to land in any airport of the world. Doesn't matter the arrival hour!  Wink

Try sitting on the rearmost seats of a Yak-42.

It's so noisy you would kill for earplugs.

I didn't know that - I have not seen them then! Surely they weren't on ANA's website?!

I have flown the Donbassaero flight quite a few time from KBP to SIP and I must admit it was a pretty scary experience. The flights were codeshare for Aerosvit. Real old Yaks with wooden shelves inside in place of overhead bins and not even any oxygen masks to fall. Half the seats were broken and could lay flat 180 degrees.

Next time I am in Ukraine I will take pictures and will post a trip report  Big grin

My flights with Donbassaero so far are the somehow shorter hop from KBP to DNK.

Still quite an experience, though.
