Hi A.net members,
I have a question on AA airport upgrades. I accidentally bought a Q fare from MCO to CNF, which is not upgradable using E-VIP. To go up to the next fare, I need to pay a fare difference of $200 which I don't mind, but there is an extra $150 to change the ticket fare.
The coach cabin is pretty full and I have received lots of airport upgrades in the past. Do you if possible the case of a overbooked coach cause me to get bumbed to Biz even on a Q fare? I'm an executive platinum.

Quoting ADRIANGALT (Reply 1): I just flew DFW-MEX for a fare of $135 o/w and used 2 points for and UPG to first, sweet deal I thought.
Just did the same thing.... how little and easy is that on DFW-MEX to get upgrades!.... on Domestic is usually easy to get upgrades.

Dont think domestic upgrades work beyond Mexico. I was in the same sittuation going to EZE a year ago and tried to do an upgrade at the airport with miles and all appeared that it would go through until they noted it was a non upgradable fare. I even knew the gate agent and that did not help. It had actually gotten to the point of pulling miles and processing the fee when it was caught. I have a few of the VIP upgrades as well, but I assume the principal is the same. The J cabin even ended up having open seats.
