I get ideas for topics in the wierdest ways. For some reason while I was reading about a Compass news article, I thought about weather Delta had/has an plans to expand on their TOC in Atlanta or elsewhere, or possibly building another bay somewhere on any available parcel of land over on the north end of ATL. I understand, NW will work on NW aircraft and vice cera (right?) but at some point, I would believe that space will be needed.

Yes? No?

What gets measured gets done.

I haven't heard of any new build plans for the TOC. We will be getting all the current NW hangars with the merger. So far the two airlines have been able to work with this much space so the combined airline should be able to work on the combined fleet with the same mix of hangars. The outsourced overhaul work will stay outsourced and the line work will be combined. The combined airline will now have two major maintenace stations.

My feeling is that the 319/320's will eventually replace the MD-88's as well the DC-9's will be sent to pasture. This leads to a large loss of airframes that already fit into the hangers of NW/DL. DL gave up the old EA hanger so I would say no to expansion. Not only that I have a feeling that the new to DL 319/320 fleet can find a new way to Aeroman in SAL along with other USA based Airbus fleets if there is space between the jetBlues, US et al.
