I knew this was close. We have all seen info about the new terminal including some preview photos. Well today is the last day for the current terminal. Tomorrow begins a new chapter for IND airline passengers.

Technically tomorrow is the last day. All flights will operate out of the old terminal tomorrow except for RONs that arrive tomorrow evening. RONs will park at the new terminal tomorrow evening, and all flights will operate from the new terminal on Wednesday.

Here is the old in the upper right and the new on center stage!:

Now only if SLC will take a clue and realize their facility is horribly obsolete for the numbers coming through!

I'll be sad to see it go... but I've always got a soft spot for "old" terminals, even the ones that are past their prime. The old IND - with its tacked-on additions, low ceilings, multiple ticketing halls and labyrinthine baggage claim areas - is definitely a relic of an earlier time. And the scalloped roofline is a nice blast from the past, too.

I've flown through the old IND probably 20+ times in the last year and was sure to take lots of pictures, since it sounds like the place has a date with the wrecking ball in fairly short order. The new facility looks gorgeous - it's great to see US airports finally catching up to those in Europe and Asia - but it's sad to see another old terminal pass into the history books.

Quick question then: If no arrivals to the new airport are planned until 8:00 p.m. local, then why does delta.com (and indianapolisairport.com) show DL 1550 arriving into gate "A22"...which is clearly the new terminal. Did this really happen?

RW170 technically you are absolutely right. So since it is now Tuesday the thread title becomes more accurate. Here is some more interesting info regarding the new IND:

Thanks RW170 for straightening me out.

Can't explain IND's site but just checked all ATL-IND flights on Delta.com. The first 2 list A22 as the arrival gate, the next 4 have no arrival gate listed, the next one lists B4 (one of their current gates I assume) even though it clearly RON's (arrives at 2205) and the last one lists A22. From CVG the middle flight lists B6 while the first and last list A20; the 2200 arrival from JFK also lists B6. I think they're just as confused as the travelers who were interviewed in that video

I assume this (Tuesday's) morning's emergency landing parked at the old terminal? Or was it the first flight to park at the new terminal?

It would've parked at the old terminal. The new terminal didn't officially open until 1pm Eastern time on Tuesday, and no flights arrived into the new terminal until after 8:00pm.

We are here!
The topside may look great but where we are below, has a long way to go.
I would say it is still months from being completed.
Can't wait to head upstairs and see the new place.

Went though the old terminal on NW yesterday. It was nice to see that not all of the in airport services had closed early. I am hopeful for the new terminal, should be a wonderful addition to IND as a whole.
