looks like Airtran will be doing some charter work over the winter with Funjet vacations out of MKE. Interesting. I wonder if this will lead to scheduled service or just looking for some extra cash.

Probably not; Funjet and Apple both use scheduled carriers for this from time to time. I wouldn't read too much in to it (other than that FL's service to MKE makes it easier for them to position the aircraft and thus probably somewhat cheaper than, say, F9 or SY).

Does this mean that FL's 737s are going to be replacing the Ryan International/Futura 737s we see here normally see here at MKE on those routes? I'm sick of constantly flying on those same charter flights whenever I go on vacation and I've been praying that someone else might come in and replace them...Also, is F9 keeping their seasonal MKE-CUN service or is that dropped?

Will you watch the Cleveland Browns and the Detroit Lions on Sunday? Only if coach Eric Mangini resigned after a loss.

Dropped (as is everything else outside of DEN/MCI/SLC).

I was told that the charter companies did not want to sign on with Ryan because of their financial situation. They didn't want to risk going with an airline that may shut done during the season.

Great news! After discontinuing service a few years ago, it looks like USA3000 is coming back to MKE. Their online route map is showing flights to CUN, RSW, PVR, PUJ, and MBJ. I flew on them a few years ago before they left and their service really was superb. I've been hoping that they'd come back for a while now.
