Just noticed that LH will be starting new flights to Inverness from Dusseldorf in the summer season. Operating once weekly on a saturday with a CRJ-700 I wonder if this could end up increasing at all to a year round service.

Does anyone know of any more new INV routes up coming?

On a seperate note LH seems to be slowly expanding throughout the UK in the smaller airports with summer flights. First Newquay? now INV, any more we might expect?

Can I ask what is the main purpose of the flight? Is it to bring German tourists to the Highlands of Scotland in the summer? Or is it so Scottish residents can connect to 'the world' via LH hub in DUS? The latter seems unlikely since it is only a 1 x weekly flight?!

It's most likely aimed at German tourists to the highlands. If it were to connect Inverness to 'the world', they'd probably pick FRA or MUC, as those two are real LH hubs. DUS is more a base for local (Ruhr area, NRW, the Netherlands) demand, and LHs operations here are not very much focused on offering connections.

I wouldn't be surprised if a tour operator guarantees a certain amount of seats on the flights.

Has anyone from Inverness ever ventured out the highlands?
