I believe Qantas will continue to use T4 until they move into T3 later in 2009. I think September has been cited as the move date of these final services into T3, with the other Oneworld stuff moving quite early on in 2009

We'd like to welcome in particular our Executive Club members and those joining us from our Oneworld alliance partners.

Terminal 4 should have gotten an A380 compatible gate by now... so i guess it will park there until the move to Terminal 3.

Next Flights: LHR-OSL (319-BA), OSL-LHR (319-BA), LHR-IAH (744-BA), MSY-LGA (319-DL), JFK-LHR (744-BA)

They're being built at the moment - gates 405/406/407 are closed, and being merged into 2 x A380 compatible gates.

Just a quick aside by why on god's earth is Qantas NOT using terminal 5?
Its just that with the Joint Services Agreement, those flights are very heavily sold
by BA too... making the situation a bit different to say Cathay or American who's long haul flights operate far more independently.

Any answers? I guess this means we'll be seeing a real Qantasclub in Terminal 3, rather than the BA lounges?

I assume there must be/have been some ground taxiway works as well to bring the connecting southside taxiways up to Code F standard? At present, from the charts, nothing south of 09R/27L is A380 standard.

Because BA and Qantas have decided to have all Aussie flights out of terminal 3 not the Grand T5. All flights to BKK and SIN are also T3, what a mistake. Why can't flights to Africa be from T3, atleast SAA flies from teh even worse T1.

It's actually all about ground handling, and nothing to do with BA, although it was originally. Aviance now handles Qantas, and KLM does their ticketing in Amadeus. Aviance will handle QF in T3. BA are eventually moving their SIN/BKK/SYD services from T4 to T3, as they codeshare and revenue share with QF under the JSA.
T3 was chosen, as it's geographically closer to T5 within the Heathrow campus. Additionally, the Track-Transit System in T5 will be extended to T3, making T3-T5 connections much easier.

BA has a lot of services to Africa, and T5 is strictly BA, so moving BA African services (why Africa?) to T3 and BA/QF services into T5 wont work under BA's current plan.
