In closed talks this week DL expressed their wish to increase capacity on the very successful JFK-TLV route to twice daily. another option discussed was to upgrade the daily flight from 777 to one of NW's 747.

This comes in addition to LY's several daily flights to JFK/EWR (which is fully codeshared with AA), and CO's double daily EWR-TLV. plus, DL serves TLV also from ATL daily, and in 2009 US will begin daily service PHL-TLV with their brand new A330.

It won't be twice daily, it will be one daily and a second flight four days of the week. 11 weekly 767-300s.

I believe that's what the OP was stating. Upgrading the service to two daily flights or upgrading the daily flight to a 744.

Maybe that was in reference to ATL-TLV? ATL is the one being operated by a 777 today; JFK's is a 763ER.

The additional JFK frequencies were announced as part of last week's big international route announcement:

11 weekly is not twice daily, daily = mon-sun. It's 1 daily and 1 four times per week.

Grrrrr... well, I might have mixed up everything altogether then  boggled
(This is why I tried being cautious with the question mark on the topic)

I understand that.....that's the June schedule........the OP was talking about proposed changes for September of '09. At least that's the way I read it.

The part about '09 was in reference to US Airways launching PHL-TLV.

Actually it wasn't. it was about DL increased capacity as of September 09, regardless of US. anyway, as this is just hearsay, I take no responsibility over the rumours... only time will tell. meanwhile, with the FAA planning to decrease TLV safety level from 1 to 2, nothing will happen with any U.S airlines until necessary changes done in TLV to get the grading back to level 1.

Only partially. Read the title of the thread.

This is off the typic. But, DL has announced that it will start PIT-CDG flights. Is DL plane on using PIT for more international flights? PIT does have alot of open space and gate collecting dust that DL could use.

DL will probably stay with PIT-CDG for now. Other than AMS, no other European city would offer DL the necessary connectivity.
