Hadn't seen anybody mention on here nor talk about in discussion what's been going on with Vision Air recently, with their announcements of added a/c and adjustments made to their op cert. Last time we had mentioned them at all was back in summertime when they actually pulled most of their sched ops and many thought they were going under where some knew what was on the back burner. Site not done yet by any means, but, things are to come here in the near future the way it's looking, any ideas.........
I was interested in the commuter more and more when they were plopping their a/c here in PRC occassionally and looking at the field, but then again, they also had their eyes on FMN, VIS, MER, RNO, MMH flights and started a temp charter agreement in IFP and who knows what else, so that wasn't going far. When that all of a sudden quickly came to a halt I had wondered why, and when in Vegas for a few day getaway drove out to the north field. Airline reps/c.s.a were awesome and found out a few things that were more then intriguing and thinking now maybe a reality with the new site coming online.

Good to see that they are attempting to make a come back of sorts. Vision's mode of operation has always been kind of an on-again-off-again set up. Their charter work is definetely what has kept them going, as their commuter operations never did take hold, & I dont' think most EAS cities they applied for were not very accepting of their proposals for flights into North Las Vegas Airport. At one time they were trying to get EAS service for Elko NV to Reno, which just kind of fizzled out. If they would get off their banter that VGT is the greatest place to fly passenger to/from they might have a chance in the commuter markets as they really do have some nice aircraft.

be careful though, to my understanding when I was looking at some pictures and past searches on Vision, there is another company out there that without noticing, I would be bringing up news/articles on the wrong operation. Maybe even two remembering correctly, the 2nd now being in Africa and the other was in the south somewhere.
Vision has had the Do328 jets for a while, they would sub them as needed as backup to their Do328 prop flights VGT/IFP/GEU/IWA/CLD and GCN. Both of these a/c are favorites of mine from pax standpoint, and while the jet is quite slow for longer/higher/further route sectors, comfort levels rank high and crews I think enjoyed flying the a/c up until maint became tough when parts were hard to find when manufacturer had issues.
My thinking to the B737 a/c coming online, think there is something else going on not mentioned here yet, and with clips we've been hearing/passing around here on airliners as discussion, just think about it from a financial standpoint, planning now for options later. This only still being my guess, but with what they've done over time and recently have tried, then submitted to DOT, and just the other news rumoring around, that'd be my hint here to see if anybody else might have same thoughts or track of mind, that being if I'm on track. Where I caught on to this were topics started here within past month, even 2 months maybe, but topics had lots of interaction and posts kept it top of list for days after.
Knowing the industry, being in and loving the airlines for most my life, and now working as consultant for past years to stay in industry without being able to fly yet which soon will change, just learned to see things out of the box, as if I were a year or two down the road already, cuz then things heard now would all come clear.

Wowsa!!!! Nice looking birds, but one has to woner. When will they be painted in Vision colors. It would be nice to get a cabin shot!
Quoting Srbmod (Reply 4): They've also got some 767s as well.
I looked at the 767, but wondered if it is under the same ownership company? The 767 pics only seem to show international shots. It would be intersting to find that out. I will try and do some searching on it. Thanks for the pics!

This could answer my question above. However, I find it interesting that Vision USA is starting to get a very interesting fleet of aircraft. Interesting enough, that I would be interested in taking a flight on them. I have not been to North Las Vegas airport in years. That was the airport that I took my private flying lessons out of, and it was a fairly busy airport at the time. I can only recall one or two grand canyon outfits still flying out of there during my time flying out of the airport. Heck, I even worked for Air Nevada Airlines when they operated out of North Las Vegas, a year or two before being bought out by Scenic (I think that was who bought them).
Anyways, for those that have the luxury of being in the area, how busy is it getting over there? Have they done any work on the runways as far as making them capable of handling larger aircraft? I never in my wildest dreams would have visioned D-328 Jets there! Wow, I am getting old.....

I drive past it almost everyday and it is very busy, In fact it is the 2nd busiest airport in the state. About 2 months ago there were two seperate planes that crashed into houses within the same week. Needless to say the NIMBYS were all up in arms about it. Not sure about the work on the runways, but a few years ago I actually saw a 737 parked there so it can obviously handle it, although it probably wasn't fully loaded.

A couple of things:
1) They are now advertising $29.00 flight between VGT and IFP on the Do.328 prop. Sounds fun as it is getting almost impossible to book any flight inthe U.S. fo this amount!
2) The Do.328Jet fleet is going bye-bye
3) Planning to standardize the 737-300/400 fleet for U.S. charter operations (sports/casino/etc.)
4) Government contract 767 overseas activity to remain a separate operation.

It is actually $129 and it is a charter junket for the Riverside. Operates 4 days a week.
You can search all the Riverside charter junkets here: http://www.riversideresort.com/city.aspx?id=217
Some are operated by Sun Country, some by Vision. Look for the closer in cities for the Vision runs.

That is the charter track they picked up for the Gold Strike. They were going to charter SkyKing 737s to operate the flights initially.

FATFlyer - thank you for bringing those to my attention. Back in August when they discontinued the IFP operation, I thought it was indefinite and not actually only "suspended" ops.
I see they've kept their Carlsbad and Mesa charter flights, but added Ontario which they took over the contract from ExpressJet Airlines. Anybody ever get a picture of ExpressJet in IFP while doing these flights for the casinos? Tucson still is flown by SunCountry on the B738 while right next door Mesa gets the D328 prop flights, think I'd rather have the prop on this one anyway. The LAS packages look like a waste, most likely to fill whatever they can to position the plane into IFP, but why even bother. With amount of fuel used each way enroute, put the crew up in IFP and go ahead and spend the $29 a night per room per crew.

FatFlyer
Actually, according to an ad in this w/e LV Review Journal travel section, it IS $29.00. It is an air only offering that is tagged to the more expensive packages. Probably just seat fillers for unsold Riverside packages.
