Quoting Sunking737 (Thread starter):

What a shame for the employees.

The failure of Dayjet is going to have a crushing blow to the Eclipse 500 program. Dayjet had orders on the books for 239(?) Eclipse 500s. I wouldn't be surprised to see Eclipse Aviation to go tango-uniform as well. Talk about epic fail...

Sounds like Eclipse Aviation was part of the problem as Dayjet blamed Eclipse for failing to install missing equipment or repair technical discrepancies in accordance with the terms of DayJet’s aircraft purchase contract. Of the 20 plus jets they had, they could only keep 12 flying.

"The Atlantic" did a feature article on this outfit a year or more ago. It seemed as thoguh there was no shortage of whiz kids involved: business people as well as mathematicians to develop the operational model. Maybe they were smart, but they seem to have run into an economic sh*tstorm and have an a/c that is not quite ready for prime time. Financing is also quite likely a factor. I always thought it was an interesting idea that could have worked under somewhat better circumstances.

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

Or, more precisely, lack thereof. The spike in oil prices was no doubt the last nail in their coffin. So much for the air taxi, eh?

I thought they filed for Chapter 7 over a month ago, maybe even 2 months ago.

I thought a big reason for Dayjets failure was the fall of the finance industry, they couldn't get their loans secured.

For some reason I am thinking Dayjet going out of business is old news. Aren't all their planes parked at Gainesville?

Dayjet stopped flying in Sept. They just filed Bankruptcy last week. The story seemed to indicate that Eclipse was not delivering parts that Dayjet needed to keep its LBJ's (Little Bitty Jets) airworthy.
