I was thinking, since Midway, Qantaslink, Airtran, Bangkok airways and Spainair link are withdrawing 717 from service, maybe we can see them in Africa- Arik Air, 1Time, TAAG, Zimbabwe Airlines, etc? Or in South America, 717 can replace Fokker 100/50. And in Eastern Europe, maybe LOT , Aeroflot International, Nord, S7, Transaero, Ukraine International Airlines, Georgia Airways, etc? Sure, Hawaiian and Delta are strong candidate, but, they won't take all 717, would they? So, what do you think?

My bet on 1Time and Ukraine International Airlines.

If it's a 717 then Hawaiian will buy it!

there is another thread about the future of the 717, especially with Midwest 16 or 25 717s going on the market. There is a poster there who is pretty confident that Delta will scoop up all the MD-90s and 717s they can get, probably 30 to 50 of each, to replace the NW DC-9s and some older MD-80s. This would mean that there would be little left for the emerging economies you mention.

nobody has ever died from hard work, but why take the risk?

PS is an all B737 and will stay that way as long as current business strategy is intact. It is not looking for old metal, just vice versa: they are slowly moving out of classics in favor of NG.

B717 could do well with MD80 operators.

I don't work for COPA Airlines!

Boeing seem to have 17 B717 in stock last time I checked, so buying/leasing B717 isn´t a problem?

HA acquired four 717's this past year. Two have arrived and two more by year end. From all indications, that's all they'll need.

Grew up in the business and continued the family tradition.
