In 1985, UA had look at old Frontier for possible buy-out. Frontier was really in dire straits at that time. UA bought some Frontier's 737s & all the MD-80s. Old Frontier finally went under & UA got all their planes back. UA then leased the MD-80s to AirCal...AirCal returned the ships, and UA finally sold them to Continental. Regards.

I don't think United sold Frontier's MD-80s to Continental. United never was the median in that. Frontier was part of Lorenzo's Texas Air cluster#### along with Continental, Eastern, People Express and New York Air. Continental got the MD-80s along with some 737s directly from orriginal Frontier I remember seeing Continental MD-80s and 737s in Frontier colors back in the late 80s
