CO's new BE Aerospace designed BusinessFirst seats will face the windows, the 787 windows are 18.4 inches tall and 10.7 inches wide which should provide a nice view without straining your neck.

Continental plans Dreamliner seats to be roomy, with a view
By JAMES WALLACE
P-I AEROSPACE REPORTER

Even though Boeing's 787 Dreamliner remains grounded by a series of embarrassing delays, airlines that have ordered the plane are eager to take advantage of its unique features designed to enhance the flying experience for passengers.

And one of those special features on the 787 is the large windows -- bigger by far than those on any commercial jet flying today.

Continental Airlines, one of three U.S. airlines that have ordered the 787, will configure the business cabin of its Dreamliners with seats that face more toward those huge windows than the front of the plane.

It's a radical concept in aircraft interior design.

Looking at the picture of the new BusinessFirst seats I'm curious how they will set this up as the PTV would have to be moved in order not to block the window.

Great Idea ... make them NOT look at other passengers but to mother earth's beautiful nature outside of your Boeing window! Excellent ... might need some more detailed drawings and photos to fully judge!

That PTV screen will not be a big issue .... what more disturbs me are the hideous mix of colours fabrics and materials of these seats ... grey, blue black, cheap plastic and a second choice fabric .. COMMON you US designers can do better, you desig beautiful houses ... so take some time and squeeze some great designed seats out of your creative brains ... just look at LX, LH, EK, SQ ....

What is so radical about seat facing windows, Its new in Business Class not in First. Most Business suites like Delta, Air Canada, Cathay and Virgin face opposite the windows.

British Airways First Class has faced the windows of the 777 & 744 since it was launched.

Tell that to AA, who's flagship suite has been facing toward the windows for 10+ years…

"So every passenger will get to look out of the window without turning their head," he said.

Actually I very much prefer to turn my head, but be close to the window with my head, because I like to look down...

Like the idea, sounds better than the AC/VS type seats which face aweay from the window, really don't like that arrangement.

You can tell that the seats face the windows in the photos Continental released a couple months ago.
In any event, can't wait to see them.... wonder whether I ever will.
If CO is smart, they'll put them on the 777 fleet without waiting for the 787 to show up.

I believe CO will. Press releases have indicated that starting 2009 new BF seats will start to find their way onto the 777, and starting 2010 onto the 752. And of course on the 787 as delivered.

G00d thing you don't see it when you are sitting on it.

Seriously, CO's muted blues and grays are very soothing and unobtrusive in flight. The fabric is generally comfortable and less "hot" than leather. I don't know how cheap the plastic is or isn't. You can't tell by looking at a picture, you have to touch it. Like comparing a VW interior to a Chevy interior through pictures alone.

It's going to be installed on the two 777's CO takes in '09, as the launch aircraft for the new product.

The article also mentions that the plane will be windowshade-less. Looks like the same system that the L-1011 had when it debuted back in the early 70's. Wasn't too long before the airlines ripped it out and put in window shades.

You might not be able to see it when you are sitting on it but it does set the tone for the cabin, something like DL's soothing blue looks much nicer for the cabin than dull gray
