In the last few years, a fair number of major airlines have changed their colour schemes- some for the better and others not.
What are your opinions on this subject? Which new colour schemes look better, and which ones shouldn't have been changed?  Confused

United should have left their previous scheme the way it was. That paint job they have now remind me too much of British Airways & Canadian Airlines. Whoever had the bright idea of changing it must be color blind!
I've heard ATC people can't see UA planes at night!
Scary thought...I'm not taking any UA flights after sunset. Regards.

I like the distinctive current livery of United far more than the cheap old white one with the thick stripes. United never had a nice looking livery between the 50s and the current one.

Delta is the premier example for me of better staying with the old than bringing out a misguided new one.
Also BA: The "Landor scheme" was one of the best in the world. Conservative looking, yes, but in a very classy way.

Far better than the old colours on the other hand are the new liveries of LanChile, Varig and Cathay Pacific.

Na,
I absolutely agree with you, I like the new UA scheme very much and the new BA scheme I find hideous.
Here are some new colour schemes which I find dreadful or in some lighter cases less appealing:
-British Arways
-SAS
-Delta
-Swissair
-Austrian Airlines
-Finnair
-Saudia
-Olympic Airlines
-El-Al
-Air New Zealand
-Cathay Pacific
-Varig
-Aerolineas Argentinas
-Canadian Airlines (their new "Goose" before Air Canada bought them)

Here are some colour schemes which I am happy that were changed:
-Qantas (1985)
-ANA (1985)
-Lufthansa
-Ansett Australia
-United Airlines
-Northwest
-Continental Airlines
-JAL
-Air Canada

Thats all I can think of at the moment. Cheers,

RonE

I agree with some of you, and disagree with some others.
I rather like United's change. The previous livery was a little too "pop". Northwest isnt bad... maybe just too dark but I miss the "Orient" thing wich was classy. Lan Chile's improved as well as Varig's. Virgin's is good, and also BA World concept... For worse?
