Just listening to the news during the lunch break at the cricket, and they mentioned a QF A330 landing safely in Brisbane after pilots noticed a hydraulic system warning midflight en route from Singapore.

Apparently it landed safely as only the ground steering was affected, so with emergency services in attendance it was towed to the terminal from the runway.

No more details were given except to remind everyone of the now infamous nose dive over Western Australia.

a) Does anyone know anything at all?
b) Could this be a deeper problem with the type? Especially considering the other topic in the forum right now concerning the very hard landing of one in September....

What has this one got to do with the other incident? (Sep hard landing...although operator has not been mentioned though many believe it is TAM) and more importantly what has it got to do with the Aircraft type??? Now is this Qantas or Airbus Bashing? Deeper problem with type? My Goodness me! I guess if this had not happened with Qantas probably it would just be another minor glitch in the thousands of incident free flying hrs that both Qantas (as an airline) and the A330 (as a type) accumulate everyday! I consider only the Manila incident to be categorised "serious"..the infaqmous nosedive...well it did happen to a B777 as well and if passengers learn to keep their seatbelts on at all times so many injuries would not occur!

i didn't mean to bash anyone or any company.....

all i meant was that the only reasons to be given thus far regarding the nosedive over Western Australia was undefined computer glitches, while the hard landing appears to have been due to computer/autopilot issues.

serious question.... is it possible that there is an issue with the onboard computers on A330's that has been lucky enough not to arise until recently??

OK ..Sorry! I do get your point now  Smile but the hard landing incident has been clearly identified by EASA as wrong configuration of the FCUs by the operator which went against what was authorised by Airbus. (So that is more of a misplaced hardware problem) Regarding the nose dive incident, yes that was a glitch...though am not sure what was the final solution for that. Other members pls kindly elaborate...  Smile

No problems  Smile

But we're cooking on gas now.

If anyone's heard anything on either QF instance i'd love to know...

It should really be "More Qantas Aircraft Problems" as it is starting to seem endemic to the airline at this point, not any one aircraft type. Weather it's a "worn out 743" or an "old 744" or a new A330, QF can't seem to maintain it well anymore.
