I live in North Potomac, MD (DC Suburbs) and I was out walking my dog and noticed a constant line of airplanes flying above my neighborhood headed towards Dulles (I'm about 30 miles northeast of there). I'm not usually under the direct flightpath of planes going to Dulles, so it's weird hearing the plane engines over my house all moning. It's been quite windy and cold all day but no precipition or visibility problems that I'm aware of. I saw a couple of UA 777's and 757's fly overhead, anyone know what this is all about?
Quite often with these fall and winter fronts that move through, you end up with winds that require all operations to a particular airport be to/from a specific runway that normally would not be used during peak hours.
