As stated by FLYSSC AF/ME were planning to start a fourth frequency between CDG and BEY. The flight has now been loaded. It will be an AF A332 operating 4 times per week, in addition to the 2 daily ME A332 flight and the AF 77W flight.
Schedule :
AF 562 MON/WED/THU/FRI
16:20 PARIS (CDG) 21:30 BEIRUT (BEY) 332
AF 561 TUE/THU/FRI/SAT
10:35 BEIRUT (BEY) 14:10 PARIS (CDG) 332
The Departure from CDG is too early to permit a full business day in Paris. An 18:00 Depature would have allowed late afternoon conections from Europe.
The Departure from BEY is well timed to catch the 16:00 North Atlantic departure wave.

I am also surprised by the schedule of the flight leaving CDG at 16:20 ... I guess the first reason for this 4th flight is to offer better connetions to the passengers of the AF longhaul flights* who arrive to late at CDG to catch MEA leaving at 13:40.
* such as :
AF267 from ICN (14h30)
AF069 from LAX (14h05)
AF279 from NRT(14h15)
AF439 from MEX (14h05)
Well, the offer on CDG-BEY-CDG is already quite important with 2 x A332 + 1 x B77W Daily. This is actually the highest offer in seats daily out of BEY.
I guess they want to "test" this 4th frequency and see if it can be popular and profitable before eventually increasing it to Daily...

Great news for AF/ME...
As a CDG-BEY user, I would have preferred a later departure from CDG. Given the layover time, this could be possible... The later departure time compared to the 8:00 of ME211 is great! You still have a full afternoon in Paris. I presume is, just like ME209/210, less for O&D and more for transiting pax
I presume the same crew will operate the flight back?
There will be an France tail during the whole night at BEY. Wonder if they will leave the A/C near gates 22-23, given that 3-4 ME A330 could be stationned on some nights.

MEA is operating a BEY-NCE-BEY during the summer season.
AF does not operate any single long-haul flight from MRS, NCE, LYS, TLS, BOD or any provincial airport.
AF policy is to have a dense centralized network out of CDG with a lot of frequencies and as much connection possibilities as possible, as AF's priority is to "feed" the CDG Hub (much more profitable) rather than offering O/D flights from the French province (AF doesn't even fly to PTP/FDF/RUN from MRS/TLS/NCE/BOD).
Note that most of the time, the fare for a ticket "CDG-long haul" is equivalent to the fare of a ticket "French Province-CDG-Long haul".

Indeed, until the early 90s, before it was reorganized, AF used to have several long-haul flights with many en-route stops including within France like :
ABJ was not served by AF but by UTA until it was merged into AF in Feb 1992
UTA also had several longhaul routes to Africa with stops in France such as :

I think this new flight would also provide good connections with the hi-speed train service to and from Brussels. A pity there are no weekend frequencies both ways as they would be very useful around school holiday periods.
Anyway, I'm not too excited about transferring everything myself from train to plane at CDG for a family of 4 including 1 child and 1 infant.
Hope by the time travel is easier again, there will be those frequencies.
Anyway, it looks like BRU is quickly becoming Star Alliance dominated and so it is more likely we'll be flying Star Alliance carriers connecting to BEY i.e. BD via LHR, LH via FRA or TK via IST. Maybe some day SN would start BEY, or RB join Star Alliance
Good news in any case, although the bigger news will be when ME actually starts to fly to JFK and or YUL nonstop from BEY (again).

... According to some MEA insiders, ME is stil planning to operate an additional flight BEY-CDG-BEY operated by A321/320 3 times a week. This flight would complement the 4 weekly AF561/562 flight, making it a daily 4 flights.
