Any news or inside information on what the arbitration of seniority for joint pilot list will look like due on or before this Monday December 8th? Guess will be difficult to please everyone but hope better than what the NW and Republic decision was years ago.

Only rumor I heard is it might come out today. If true, that usually means bad news, thus letting Wall St. digest it for two days before the market reopens.

I was hoping that both sides could come up with an agreement between themselves versus an arbitratrators decision. In today's world - flexibility is the name of the game.

I doubt it will be bad news. At least, for the company. One side or the other may not get all that they wanted, but you will not see a repeat of the USAir situation.

It is typical to release any news that may impact stock price on a Friday. Allowing investors to think about it for a couple of days tends to minimize the short term impact on stock price.

Delta has almost always announced any major announcements on Fridays.

you are right, but in this case, Delta has no control over the announcement.

So were a lot of people, but how many actually thought it would happen?

We'll see. Depends on how much the decision "mirrors" the Nicolau one....

if it mirrors the Nic award, the NWA pilots may be unhappy, but they won't be able to stop it. Unlike the situation at USAir, where the east pilots out number the west, the NWA pilots do not out number the DAL pilots, and thus could not vote in a new union. Further, there is already a joint contract in place, so neither side could stop the new list by refusing to ratify a joint contract.

PS, IMHO, Nicolau got the list right, he just needed longer fences.

That may be; I was thinking of all of the infighting that would ensue...
