I was just looking at images. It says the first B767 and -200 is at VCV, awaiting for scrap. From other websites, it says that it is scrapped.

Is it true?(Q1)

And why didn't Boeing presevered the B767? Isn't B767 an significant aircraft? (Q2)

To my knowledge, B367-80, B727, B737-100, B747 are preserved.

Never forget to be yourself.

Airlinerlist shows MSN22233 is 767 L/N 1 which was a prototype. However it just says stored, not scrapped. Perhaps if you shared the sources you are using to find this information we can help you better.

They may not have had any use for it. Boeing rarely keeps things themselves just because they're historically significant...they let museums do that.

Yes, it is.

The 727, 737-100, and 747 are all at the Museum Of Flight in Seattle. Although they have close ties, that's a separate entity from Boeing. If somebody offered the first 767 to the museum, I'm sure they'd consider taking it.

Tom.

The first 767 was significantly modified for use as an Airborne Surveillance Testbed. The most recent pic on Airliners.net shows it stored at VCV:

That's right! I forgot about that. Well Boeingdotcom, there's your answer. It certainly is significant. Not sure if it'll ever go to a museum though.
